Bavarian Breakfast

An authentic Weißwurstfrühstück (breakfast with white sausages) with sweet mustard, Weißbier (beer brewed from wheat) and pretzels is amongst the most popular traditions in and around Munich. It typically starts at 9 am and ends about 12 pm, preferably on Fridays or the weekend. A Weißwurst must not hear the church bells at noon! Some people add radish (cut into thin slices, each of them salted), a very refreshing side dish especially on hot summer days. The white sausages get heated in hot water of about 70°C for 25 minutes (never boil them!).
Serve them in a bowl with the hot water used for heating, so that everybody can take them out hot. One eats them without the sausage casing, dipped into the sweet mustard. Add pretzels and a fresh, cool beer and it will be the perfect start into the weekend.
