Striezl

"Striezl" is the Bavarian name for this yummy pastry. It is made from yeast dough, refined with lots of sultanas and has a braided shape. It is white and soft inside and has a smooth thin crust. It tastes a bit sweet but is not as sweet as a cake. It is ideal for breakfast, recess or as a snack in between and can be eaten as it is. Some people love it buttered or with jam. Striezl lasts about two days. Just keep it in a wooden bread box or a bread crock like ordinary bread. Don't put it into a plastic bag or in the fridge. Too much moisture made it too soft and promotes the development of mildew.
